First, It's usually easiest when trying to resolve a problem like this to use the command line interface to AGS running with a logLevel of 6. That way you can see in real time the progress through your commands and any errors or warnings.

The details on setting up a COM log are on page 27 of the Installation Guide in the section for: "Object construction". Set it to 6 when trying to debug a problem--you'll get step by step reporting. Otherwise, set it to 3 (or 4) so that only errors (and warnings) are reported-- to avoid slowing down your processing by writing an overly detailed log.

AGS may not support level 1.2--have your command specify the 1.3 level that you want. A level of 1.3 works for me.
