textbox alignment

Weird, when setting text in the textbox the alignment ignores and defaulted to left, interesting enough though, if I enter two lines of text into thsi box breaking lines by "
" than the second line keeps the alignmet, the first line still ignores it. Any ideas?

Thank,
Fedor

If you are using set command and text flow, take a look on the AGS samples (set_SVG1.xml), try put your flow tag and p/span tag on separate lines, making it exact the same format as it is in the sample.

Unfortunatelly I dont have access to samples. But here is what I am doing.

<set in="source" target="/psd/layerSet[@name='set01']/layer[@name='layer01']/textFlow/flow/p[1]/span[1]/node()" value="We are #013; here " />

(note: I removed & from 013 otherwise it wouldnt display in this post)

What comes out for some reason are two paragraphs with one span each and only second paragraph keeps the original alignment defined in PSD template, the first one just defaults to text-aligh left. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Fedor

IF the syntax you are using doesn't work, try this after /flow, starting on another line:

#flow text-align="right"#
#p##span#We are#/span##/p#
#p##span#here#/span##/p#
#/flow#
#/set#

Replace # with < or > properly.

So basically I need to re-write the the textFlow istead of using set command. Is it a known bug with AGS?

Thanks,
Fedor

Are you doing SVG or PSD?
#013 won't work in a PSD set command. That knowledgebase article is re: replaceText.

When using the set command on a PSD you have to mimic the structure of a PSD file.
- Create a PSD that matches what you want as the end result
- Load it into AGS, do an imageInfo, and a saveContent
- Open the output in a text or XML editor and look at the structure
- That's what you need to mimic. You'll see something like:
<flow>

line1

line2
</flow>

If you're doing SVG, create the desired end result in Illustrator and then look at the structure of the SVG in a text or XML editor.
That structure is what you need to mimic.

In both cases, you may be able to simplify the structure of your set command--but you'll be starting from a structure that works.

I forgot to add spaces in my p tags and they were treated as HTML p tags.

<flow>
   < p text=align="right">line1< /p>
   < p text=align="right">line2< /p>
</flow>

I am using PSD, replaceText works just fine with 013, any reason I should not use it and go with you rebuilding the whole structure?

Sincerely
Fedor

replaceText is always the first choice--unless there's no other way to do what you want other than by using the "set" command.
- it's faster to type
- you don't have to know the structure--just the layer name
- it's more robust since it will work unless the layer name is changed. (The structure will change if a line is added or deleted.)
