Hi there, I am currently getting the unhelpful and misleading (and wrong) "DON'T USE READ ()!" error messages for all sorts of minor errors I have made - like mispelling a command attribute, resizing EPS before rasterizing it, and some other minor errors. How can I turn on error messages that make sense? I believe seeing some messages that at least make some sense before, but now, I am just getting thie message all the time. I'm using the webservice and can't set the loglevel. Hope you can help. Thanks! Allan

You can set the log level for Web Services in the Admin interface:
<http://localhost:8019/altercast>
The log file will be at:
{your install location}\server\webapps\altercast\WEB-INF\logs\altercast.log
It's usually easier to debug your XML commands using the command line interface.
"DON'T USE READ ()!" is a Java error which generally means you're trying to read a nonexistent file.
Either there's:
- no valid input file--probably a path problem.
- or no valid output file was created--any error in your XML which should be listed in the altercast.log no matter what the log setting
