ADS vs. AGS

What sort of criteria one would use in choosing between ADS and AGS? I'm looking at on-demand, server-side assembly of print-ready PDFs from Photoshop templates. I know that ADS will do what I need (we've used it in the past), but given the price difference between the two products, I'm wondering what feature trade-offs there are.

I couldn't find any feature comparisons on the Adobe site.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The main difference is that AGS can't manipulate PDFs while ADS can. ADS has all of the AGS graphic commands.

AGS can convertRasterToPDF but it can't then assemble the single pages into a multipage PDF.

AGS has these PDF related commands:
convertPDFToEPS
convertPDFToRaster
convertPSToPDF
convertPSToRaster
convertRasterToEPS
convertRasterToPDF
convertSVGToPDF
