Hello! I have been using the AGS demo for a few weeks now. I am developing a demo to try to sell it to my boss. I'm afraid if I cannot figure this out it may be useless to us.

I need to have AGS analyze a file (PDF or PSD) and simply return the Variables and variable type that are defined in the file. It seems like a simple function, but I cannot find anything of the sort in the Docs. I tried evoking the AGS web service with no commands (other than to load the media file) and parsing the Log data to pull the variable names, but this does not give me the variable types. Please Help! Thanks οΏ½Derek

imageInfo and exportMetadata are the two AGS commands that give you info about the file.
imageInfo can only be used on Raster content--not PDFs. It provides info about layer-names, layer-types and variables.

(Replacements in PSDs are usually best and easiest done using replaceText and replacePixels on layers rather than by using variables. Variables are very useful for SVGs and were added to PSDs just to make the command set consistent.)

If you need info about field names and values in a PDF file you'll need Adobe Document Server. It has an exportFormData command that exports field data and values as XML.

There is an AGS command imageInfo, which retrieves image information in XML format. You then should be able to analize the XML output to get what you want.
