What is up with the O looking characters inbetween two words when I read posts on my Mac at work? I'm on my Windows PC at home and don't see this, only on my Mac. It seems to be after a comma and a space.

Could it be a Safari thing or a Mac OSX thing? Anyone else seeing this?

Check preferences in Safari. Look at the Appearances panel. What encoding are you using?

Thanx, Dave I'll have to check that out. I can't check until Monday morning though. What should it be on for OSX?

I have mine set to Western (ISO Latin 1), which is, I believe, the default.

That should be my setting. I've just started noticing this since my change to OSX. I'll have to check but I haven't changed any settings.

In this post by Wade, for example, It looked like I specified, but rereading it at home on my Windows computer, it looks fine. It was right after the "...oh, no" that looked wierd. But I've been seeing it everywhere lately.

Hello Dee,

I have just made some tests with Safari, which I don't normally use. If instead of Western (ISO Latin 1) i choose Western (Mac OS Roman), I get a "tooh" and a "thatnever" in Wade's message, but not in the previous one, which also has a "t...H". A supeficial look at the rest didn't show any obvious anomalies.

Maybe one of the two used the proper symbol, while the other typed three periods?

In any case, I would say that your problem it's just a matter of changing to the right setting. By the way, if you choose the first option (Default coding), you are not reverting to the default, but setting as default the one you have selected. Wording may be different because my Safari is in Spanish.

Hope this helps.

Thanx, I'll check my settings. Also r_harvey mentioned a possible answer in another forum.

I was on Western (Mac OS Roman). I'll change to Western (ISO Latin 1) to see if there's any difference.
