Forced log-in?

I have just tried to enter these Forums by using bookmarks I have in my browser, and was asked to log in. As this sometimes happens in my PC after Windows updates, I didn't log in and came to my Mac and tried again, with the same result. Both computers have been on all day, and I have entered the Forums several times today in both of them without any problem.

Anyone else has seen this?

Claudio,

enter these Forums by using bookmarks I have in my browser

I bet you are looking at cached pages when you use those bookmarks.

Ramn,

Don't bet, you would loose: I am not. My browsers are set to compare the cache to the page on the network every time I view the page.

I have been using bookmarks to enter these forums for years, relinking after about two-three months to avoid problems, and this is the first time this has happened in my Mac. As I said, it has sometimes happened in my PC after a Windows update. In any case, there was no update yesterday in any of the two computers, they had been working for many hours, and I had entered the forums several times from both of them.

If nobody else experienced this yesterday, I guess I will have to suspect a stray cosmic ray...

Dave,

It has just happened again!!!

I am at my Mac. I have been entering and leaving the forums every few minutes for some three hours while revising the Spanish version, and suddenly I have been asked to log in again!

No power failure, no restart, nothing abnormal since I first booted in.

Claudio,

The cosmic ray might have hit your account on the forums rather than your computers. I'm sure JohnC will look into it on Monday.

Do both computers run through any kind of common firewall or the like which may suddenly have taken exception to the operation of the Adobe cookies?

I have just checked, and cookies from Adobe are active. Also, would a firewall explain a sudden exception after dozens of successive connections during the same session, and none after logging in again?

Indeed it would be hard to explain, but most of the problems I've experienced with the internet seem to be attributable to the excessive and sometime inexplicable zeal of firewalls and antivirus programs and so forth - if only they were not necessary! Anyway, hopefully John C. will be able to check this from his end before much longer.

Well, I also think/hope this falls in JC's territory, and maybe tomorrow he may find the time to take a look at this.

Thanks Ramn, Dave and Ozpeter (chronological order!) for your suggestions. My only worry is that nobody else seems to have experienced this problem; perhaps there are no other reports because of the weekend?

Claudio,

Next time it happens, first go to another site like Google rather than enter your Adobe forums log-in info, then type in the URL for the forum rather than use your bookmarks, Tell me what happens.

Nothing sounds familiar.

What is the command code (the number between webx? and the first @ sign) in the URLs in your bookmarks? Should be 13 or 14.

Hi John,

The number is 14 in all of my nine Forums bookmarks, some older than others. And I don't understand why this seems to have affected only me: nothing was changed in my Mac on Saturday or Sunday, I had no power failures or any other trouble of any kind, and this only happened once on Saturday and once on Sunday, in each case after dozens of times of getting in and out of the forums. It hasn't happened today, and as I seem to be alone in this, I would be most happy if it never happened again, even if I never know how or why this came to happen.
