Russ and Scott, Thanks so much for your collective insight. I'm really a newbie in this area. My company plans to use FrameMaker with the Vasont CMS to achieve maximum reuse. Vasont stores elements as XML in an Oracle database, thus the need for XML round-tripping. Also--Get this--You can save muy dinero by sending XML to your translation vendors. In this way, you pay for translation only--not translation + desktop publishing services. Our content includes over 4 million words. So, we can save about 120K per language. That's nothing to sneeze at. Yes, the "savory double-click-edit" is the reason that graphics were originally embedded. Boy, is the writing team going to miss that one. Also, it's no easy task to un-embed hundreds of graphics and put the originals into a graphics catalog that everyone can embrace. (The writing team did away with the originals once their embedding operation was complete.) * **If you know of a macro or plugin for unembedding files in a FrameMaker document. Please let me know!!*** Thanks again, guys. Please keep your fingers crossed that my team doesn't (gulp) shoot the messenger. :) - Lisa
