When you have the book file open, hold down Shift and select File > Open All files in Book. My guess is that you will get warning messages for a number of files before they open. When they are all open, you should be able to Update. When the files in the book are not open, FM needs to silently open them in the background to update the book. If this process encounters any problems, the files cannot be opened and the book cannot be updated. Another remote possibility is that your book contains no non-generated files, i.e. that FM sees all files as being generated lists. That's probably not the case, but FM cannot update a book without real contents. -- /Thomas Michanek, FrameMaker/UNIX/MIF expert Technical Communicator, Uppsala, Sweden http://go.to/framers/
