Alex, Are you saving a book or a single file as XML? If you are saving a book, then FM can optionally include processing instructions in the generated XML that allow it to recreate the book when it opens the XML. In particular, a processing instruction preceding the content of each book component includes the filename of that book component. In this case, you can set up your XML application to run a simple XSLT transformation that copies the filename (without the extension) from the processing instruction to the desired attribute. If you are not using processing instructions to indicate the book components, or if you are saving individual FrameMaker files as XML, this technique is not available. In this case, you'll need to use either the FDK (FrameMaker Developer's Kit, which uses C) or FrameScript to modify FrameMaker's export behavior by adding the attribute. With both the FDK and FrameScript, you only have to write code for the elements and attributes you are changing; FrameMaker's default behavior as modified --Lynne
