From your statement about bookmarks, I am assuming you are creating a PDF. We have books that have pages of different sizes and this is how we handle it.

You do not have to print the entire book at once. First, in the book file, select only those documents that print on letter paper. Then select File > Print selected documents and select Adobe PDF as the printer and select Generate Acrobat Data.

Then do the same thing for the tabloid documents, changing the page size and orientation accordingly. You now have two PDFs, each with bookmarks.

Open the letter-sized PDF in Acrobat Standard or Professional, and insert the tabloid-sized PDF at the appropriate place. Acrobat will add the bookmarks from the tabloid-sized PDF to the letter-sized PDF, but at the bottom of the bookmarks pane. You can then drag and drop them into their correct positions. Thus, you do not need to recreate the bookmarks.

THen save the PDF. THe only thing missing in this approach is there are no links for cross-references between the two sets of PDFs.

If anyone has a better way to do what Pam wants, I would like to hear it.
