EDD and Autonumber

Hello!
In my EDD I have something like this:

If context is: (randlist[prefix=Char])
Numbering properties
Autonumber format: <a+>)\t

But if I put two different 'randlist' in the flow, autonumbering continue from previous:
list1:
a) item
b) item
list2:
c) item
d) item
Instead I would
list1:
a)
b)
list2:
a)
b)

In Unstructured FM I put a different char at the top "F:<a+>)", "S:<a+>)",
but now?
thank you!

Hi Macweaz,

This is normally done by using a {first} context rule in your list item element. The context rule states that if the list item is the first in its parent (the list), then apply an autonumber with the counter set to one. Then you have another rule that specifies an incrementing number if the item is not the first occurrence in its parent (the list).

Here's a sample fragment of an EDD that demonstrates this approach:

Element (Container): randlist
General rule:	listitem+
Attribute list
Name: prefix Choice Required
Choices:	char, num

Element (Container): listitem
General rule:
Format rules for first paragraph in element

If context is: {first}
If context is: randlist[prefix = char]
Numbering properties
Autonumber format: F:<a=1>)\t
Else, if context is: randlist[prefix = num]
Numbering properties
Autonumber format: F:<n=1>)\t

Else
If context is: randlist[prefix = char]
Numbering properties
Autonumber format: F:<a+>)\t
Else, if context is: randlist[prefix = num]
Numbering properties
Autonumber format: F:<n+>)\t

Good luck,

Jon
