Hi!
Today I have some 'how to' questions about anchored frames and graphics:
1) Can I insert a specific image in a EDD to recall every time I need in my documents? I would like to put an image in an element and then insert the same element every time I want.
2) Can I set the size of an image or of an anchored frame (in one of my elements) in the edd or in the r/w rules?
These questions because I have to do somenthing like this:
<warning>
<framesymbol>
<imagesymbol>
</imagesymbol>
</framesymbol>
<textwarning>
</textwarning>
<warning>
where the size of the framesymbol and of the imagesymbol remain the same in every instance.
thank you.

macweaz, The answer to #1 is maybe. The EDD can't call a graphic directly, I don't believe; however, it could assign a paragraph format that calls a graphic from the reference pages. Look up "frame above" / "frame below" in the paragraph format areas of the user guide/help. For #2, I think you could assign some defaults for size-related attributes in your r/w rules. I don't know how reliable that is, though, perhaps someone could comment. What you could do, though, is use a short XSLT stylesheet upon XML import to write explicit values for these attributes. Of course, this will not be applicable to authoring within FrameMaker, only importing XML. A third-party tool you might find useful is Structure Snippets from Leximation: <http://www.leximation.com/tools/info/structuresnippets.php> It allows you to store snippets of a structure tree later (such as an anchored frame element setup), much like a deluxe clipboard for structured content. It's a simple concept but I find it very useful for things like you've been talking about here. I'd recommend it highly for any structured FM author. Russ

You can nest a text frame in an anchored frame, then another anchored frame in the text frame. There is no good way to represent this in XML, though.
