Control Tab Widths?

Using FM 8.0.4, Win XP Pro SP3.

When I last used FrameMaker (version 5.5.6), there were no tabs to switch easily among open documents. Very nice addition ... and, is there a way to set min/max widths, margins, or the like for those tabs? They run off my screen, which I anticipate, but they waste a lot of horizontal space, too.

Thank you kindly,
Elchanan
