Thanks for the help everyone. My Acrobat is version 4.1. It leaves out the space on a brand new Epson inkjet printer with the newest driver. It works perfectly on my 13-year old LaserJet with 10-year-old drivers. It also works properly on my Canon copier with Fiery RIP (with 5-year-old Windows-98 drivers). I'm going to remove the non-breaking spaces (I don't need them), and make sure to use the Distiller to convert to PDF. Note that I don't "save as file", I print to PDF and then the PDF converter asks where to save it. Thanks again everyone for helping to solve my problem.
