We sometimes have incremental manual updates that are released chapter by chapter as PDFs. The problem is that the cross reference links are broken if the chapter contains a cross reference to another file. Is there a way to disable the linking function for the PDFs? That is, keep the cross reference formatting, just not have the link to other files when converted to PDF. I've looked through the PDF Setup and Distiller options, but didn't see any type of setting for enabling or disabling hyperlinks for standard cross references. (There is a checkbox to create hyperlink entries for generated TOCs and indexes, but that's not what I need.) Any help is appreciated.
