WWW links, Frame hypertext links, and PDF links are three completely different things. Quite simply, the URL that works from your HTML page is not what you need to open the file from a Frame hypertext marker. But the fact that a file://etc URL works from a browser does tell me you have direct network access to the file, so the last Frame hypertext marker I suggested should work. Unfortunately, Frame won't convert it to a working PDF link. 

Given that your ultimate goal is to get a working PDF link, your best bet is to embed the appropriate pdfMark in the Frame document. That would not give you a working link in Frame, but I assume that isn't really important. Although this can be done without Schlomo's TimeSavers, that plug-in would make it a lot simpler., so I'd suggest you take Jeannie's advice and look into it.
