I have fought with this for a while, in the absence of documentation of mathchar.cfg, and eventually got a good setup going. I use FM 5.5, Windows 98 SE, Type 1 versions of Euclid Symbol, ATM Deluxe 4.1. If you just want Euclid Symbol used automatically instead of Symbol, in Mathchar.cfg, duplicate the default metafamily symbol section, give it a different metafamily name (no spaces, i think), then within that metafamily section, use the family name EuclidSymbol (i.e. no space) instead of Symbol. That should work, it does for me. Note that some of the Euclid Symbol character shapes are different enough to cause problems of positioning (e.g. integral sign), as if FM is hard-wired to expect Symbol font shapes. So you might want to experiment to see which mathchar.cfg entries need to be left as Symbol font. Also, FM equation element positioning and spacing can be dependent on printer driver version, at least in my FM 5.5. under Windows 95 and 98. This dependence may be the same, better or worse when using non-default mathchar.cfg entries. I have further customised font aliasing and mathchar.cfg to allow me to use italic Euclid Symbol for some math elements (e.g. lowercase Greek letters) and roman for others (e.g. most everything else). Let me know if you are interested in hearing about that. Cheers, Michael Louis Feng wrote: > > I read some of you added Euclid Symbol font for math.
