When in the FrameMaker document, I use the Alt Ctrl combination to get the finger pointing and the single click (left mouse button) on the hypertext link and no action occurs; i.e. a MS Word or other non-FrameMaker document defined in the hypertext link does not open. 

This is the hypertext link which vaildates in FrameMaker 

message openfile file://Mcofnp01/Eng_drawings/FWTT_Released_Documents/FAST_Tests/FST-0127_DOS_AutoBoot_Test_Proc.doc 

"Mcofnp01/Eng_drawings" are the drive (raid) and share name the remainer is the directory path and file name on the network. 

I have tried both "/ "and "\"; with and without "file:"; someone had even suggested doubling up on the "//" and "\\", to date the only hyptertext links that work are to another FrameMaker document or to a PDF. PDF is limited to opening the document to its 1st page and not to a specific place within the document. 

Most of our smaller documents, under 50 pages, are maintained in word.
