FOOTER TEXT IS GETTING CUT OFF

I have running footers at the bottom of each page.  The variables are working fine, but on certain headings that are being picked up are being cut off.  They are long, but not too long for the space available.  I've checked the definitions to make sure there are no extra spaces in there causing them, and that isn't it... i can even type junk text in at the end of the footer and that forces the footer text to show up, but then i'm stuck with the junk text.  I've tried adding space after the footer... but that doesn't work either. 

HELP!!!!  why is this happening to me?! :o<
