Several things make multifile books better than one file. One is the use of
master pages. Many times, a special master page is used for the first page.
While you could apply the special master to pages in the middle of the book,
it's not a great idea. Another reason is if you're using chapter-page
numbering.

Indexes cover all files in a book.
