Why doesn't autosave work?

In Frame 5.5 for Windows, under the File>Preferences menu i have Automatic Save every 5 minutes and Automatic Backup on Save turned on. So, i should never loose more than 5 mins of work when FM crashes right? Why then, when it does crash, do i loose all the work i've done since i last manually saved the file? I previously used version 5.5 for UNIX and this worked fine - when you were working on a file you could see that an auto save file existed in the same directory. However, on Windows there is never any such file present even though i have auto save turned on. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike
