If the original text is formatted by applying named character formats, rather than using menu commands to override the base format, the resulting formatting should be duplicated in the cross-reference. In this case, define and apply a character format (which you might name Bold) that specifies AsIs for every character designer property except the font weight, which should be bold or bolded.
