Whoops--I should have allowed myself more time to recover from my madcap weekend trip to Canada before answering questions like this! There is a way, but it is rather involved (bear in mind you can give your formats different names): 1. Create the Bold character format that I suggested in my first post. 2. Create an in-column paragraph format named Minor for the normal-weight, second parts of your options. 3. Create a run-in paragraph format (no punctuation) named Major for the bold, first parts of your options. Specify Minor as the format for the following paragraphs. 4. Create a cross-reference format named MajorMinor defined as "<$paratext[Major]><Default Font><$paratext[Minor]>". Now, assume you want to enter Option1A in a table cell, with Option bold and 1A medium weight. Position the cursor in the cell, select the Major paragraph format, type Option, press Return, then type 1A. You should see what appears to be a single paragraph, containing the text Option1A with only Option bolded. To simplify your cross-referencing, create a spot cross reference marker by initiating the Special>Marker... command with the cursor in the Minor paragraph. Type Option1A in the marker text box, select the cross-reference marker type, and press Return (or click on the New Marker button). To reference that option, execute the Special>Cross-Reference... command, select the MajorMinor format, cross-reference markers Source Type, and Option1A marker, then press Return (or click on the Replace button). You should see Option1A with only Option bolded.
