Some quibbles: 

1. I am very skeptical about members of the sour grapes crowd who claim the lack of multiple levels of undo is no big deal. It's a long-accepted part of good software design. Period. I can't think of any other major content-creating tool that lacks it (when Adobe eventually included it in Photoshop--the History palette--, it was universally hailed as a great improvement).  

2. FM is not a design tool that imports content. I can't imagine why you would say this. In fact, its content-creation tools are very strong and its import filters are relatively weak. What you say fairly describes InDesign and PageMaker, but it's way off base for FM. 

3. Because of (2), the reasons that Adobe has failed to adequately update to app have nothing to do with its market niche. It apparently has to do with Adobe's unwillingness to devote resources sufficient to successfully update FM's aging code. 

4. FM users may very well go the way of the Dodo (being an avid FM user, I can't help but notice that I also loved and used WordPerfect and Netscape long after most had stopped), but if they do, it will be because of (3).
