Nah. Creating PDFs is easy with FrameMaker. Moreso if you are using FrameMaker 5.5.6, 6.0, or 7. FrameMaker 5 is pretty old.

The problem is you are using the wrong printer. You need to use the Distiller printer to print PDFs and you need to make sure you installed the Distiller printer using the Distiller PPD (Adist4.ppd for Acrobat 4, Adist5.ppd for Acrobat 5).

Also, remember you need minimum Acrobat 4.05 (and I think FM 5.5.6) for Windows 2000 and Acrobat 5.0.5 (and minimum FM 6) for Windows XP, anything else is unsupported.

I recommend you jump on the FrameMaker 7 upgrade and buy an upgrade to Acrobat 5.0.5 at the same time; that $300 will pay for itself quite quickly.

Cheers,

Sean
