Anybody who can predict future market trends retires wealthy in short order. I have known only one such person. He was a commodity trader, and he retired at age 38. Years ago I taught in a computer science department. During interviews parents often asked me if computer science was a good field in which to major, i.e., how were the job opportunities? My reply was that they were asking me to predict the job market 10 years down the road. I told them if I were capable of that I would not be sitting there talking to them. The last time I made a prediction in software was this: since IBM bought Lotus, SmartSuite would continue as a vigorous competitor to MS Office. I�ve been involved in software since 1954 [sic], and I�ve never seen a prediction worth 5� (or supply your own expletive).   

I am a both a content creator and  a format creator. In content, I write and publish outdoor guide books., e.g., rock climbing guides and flower guides. These are technical documents as they have substantial indexing and cross referencing  issues and require extensive use of illustrations. At this point in time, FM is a much safer and easier tool to use than Word. As a formatter, I am provided content for user manuals and am told what to do. Here, I mostly use FM since that is what is required by those paying me.  

Prediction is futile.
