Alyse, Terminology about cross-refs is kind of tricky. To set up an example, say you have a Heading on page 1 that you refer to on page 20. Officially, the Heading on page 1 is the "source," because that's where the cross-ref on page 20 draws text from. However, when you say "origination," I suspect you mean the cross-ref which becomes a link in the PDF. I'll stick to using "cross-ref" and "Heading" to stay away from discussions about "source" and "origination." :-) When the Acrobat link tool is active, all links in the PDF file are visible--there will be a box to show the borders of each link. If you have a box around the cross-ref, that means a link was created. If clicking the link (go back to the Hand tool) does not take you to the Heading, then I'm not sure what happened. I use a character tag to make my cross-refs blue. In the PDF, the link will begin where the marker is and will extend in both directions until it encounters a change in character format. Using a character tag will link only the blue text, since there is a change in character format when the text is black again. Sometimes, Frame users forget about a change in character format, and be surprised to see that the link is shorter than they expect. I've had links cover only a single character, for instance. (If your link covers your whole cross-ref then this isn't a problem for you.) Please email me your files. Click my name to find my email address. (Give me a minute or two to change my preferences to display my address.) Jeanie
