I have had a look through the Adobe site and cannot find any additional technical information. The only information I have is from what is installed by FrameMaker. FM installs an ODMA user guide that descibes how to check in and check out files, etc. The following extract sumarises the features and limitations of the API ...

A document management system (DMS)provides document access and version control to users on a network, and prevents them from making conflicting changes. Once a document is entered into a DMS (checked in), it can be opened for editing (checked out) by only one user at a time. After revising the document, the user makes it available through the DMS by checking it in again. ODMA (Open Document Management API) is an industry standard for integrating document management systems with other applications. The FrameMaker ODMA Plug-in integrates FrameMaker products with document management systems that support ODMA 1.5, such as Documentum 3.2.3, PCDocs 3.7, and SarosDM 4.1.2. To use the plug-in, you must have at least one supported DMS installed. The FrameMaker ODMA Plug-in adds a DMS menu to the FrameMaker menu bar, containing commands for setting preferences, specifying an active DMS, importing copies of DMS files into documents, and viewing information about checked-out documents. Other commands on the menu display dialog boxes provided by the active DMS. You use these dialog boxes as you would when running the DMS client software from outside the FrameMaker product. For information on using these dialog boxes, see your DMS documentation. Note: ODMA 1.5 does not support management of external references. If a document contains cross-references or hypertext links to other files, OLE objects, or text or graphics imported by reference, the links may break when you use the ODMA Plug-in to check in the document (see the note in Checking out and viewing documents on page 3).

All of this may end up being redundant with FM7 now featuring additional collaboration functions and also because of the adoption of the new WebDAV standard.
