Alyse,

I ran a little test. I created one file that contains a cross-ref to a Heading in that same file. Then I created a second file. I copied the Heading from the first file and dropped it in the second file. Then I copied the cross-ref from the first into the second. When I make a PDF from the second file (with the copies of the cross-ref and Heading), the links work properly. The cross-ref on page 3 takes me to the Heading on page 1.

So, if my test duplicates your basic method (does it?), it seems that it should be possible. For my test, I made sure the link went to another page--to make sure I could see if the link works properly. If you are copying both the cross-ref and the Heading to the same page, though, the "jump" might not be so obvious.

Jeanie
