Hypertext links in FM 6, copied into 2nd FM 6 file, don't work after 2nd file converted to PDF

When I copy and paste hypertext links (the origination and destination text) from one FM 6 file into a blank FM 6 file and then save that second FM 6 file and test the link within FM itself (by Ctrl+Alt Click), the link works fine -- meaning, when I click the linked text in that second file, FM sends me to the destination link fine. The problem occurs after then _converting that second file to PDF_. After converting the second file to PDF, the pointer finger displays fine, but clicking does not send the user to the destination link.

Some background: What I am trying to do is to create a second file that is a subset of the first file, using the links already created in the first file. I know, this subset-document situation is a great case for using conditional text instead of having two documents, but the boss I'm working for has a thing against conditional text documents.

One discovery: In experimenting whether users are able to copy and paste hypertext-linked text into another FM 6 file and retain the links once the second file is PDF'd, I discovered that doing a "Save As" on the already-existent hypertext-linked file and then saving it as PDF will retain the hypertext links. I therefore may have to resort to doing a "Save As" on the h-linked doc, pruning and further customizing as needed to create the subset doc, and then save the resulting file as PDF.

I was hoping to be able to instead copy and paste specifically what's needed from the h-linked doc into a blank-slate file, but this Save-As-then-prune method may have to do. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.
