And the posts get yet more strident. LOL! Nice troll. This is quite an entertaining thread. 1) Multiple undo is unecessary for FrameMaker. 2) I want multiple undo so folks with checklists those who are used to incorporating it in their workflow can be appeased. 3) I would prefer multiple undo not adversely affect the performance and system requirements of FrameMaker--I have no idea about how undo is used in InDesign, but I suspect the code bases are different enough that a similar implementation in FrameMaker would be tough, though clearly you have a better handle on that than I. 4) I am happy with the FrameMaker GUI in many regards, but it does need some adjustments. The bold/italic buttons would be better if you could map them to character tags, get rid of font access through the menu structure, make some dialog boxes--graphics > object properties' truncation of referenced file names is bothersome. However, what I don't want is toolbars that move around, are needlessly complex, and auto-hide and auto-show, etc. That is, I'm fine with the basic look and feel of the GUI. 5) I couldn't find the Diamond post you referred to. But, I don't think jumping between threads will help you to understand my position or how using structure and planning in FrameMaker alleviates the need for multiple undo. (Also, I want to contain this dialog to one thread, rather than letting it spill into and upset other threads.) I'm glad to hear that you don't think "font twiddling" is bad. 6) I think there are several things about a career in writing that can be appealing. The creativity of endlessly playing with fonts on a local basis is one. The creativity in designing a robust structure for your documentation is another. I suppose these need not be mutually exclusive, but I get a bigger kick out of the latter than the former. And, in my opinion, FrameMaker better supports my workflow and structure than it does somebody who is creative on formatting, layout, and content from one paragraph to the next. If I were into twiddling with fonts, I'd probably not be using FrameMaker. And, if I were formatting on-the-fly, swiping text with bold, changing fonts, tweaking line endings, and writing, re-writing, and changing my prose creatively and frequently, and locally, I'd probably want multiple undo, too. I hope this helps. Cheers, Sean
