How do i have multiple references to a Table Footnote?

I'm trying to add a footnote to a table, but would like several cells in the table to refer to the same footnote (i.e. using the same symbol). Every time i add another footnote to a table it uses a new symbol and adds a new footnote. Copying a footnote to another cell doesn't work either. Any ideas? I know i could manually add the correct symbol to table cells, where only 1 cells is a true footnote, but if i do this and add further footnotes then most my symbols won't change automatically. Thanks in advance for your help :) Mike
