Thanks, Sean! I opened the printer properties and made some modifications. Ultimately, I made Distiller my default printer and chose my custom distiller settings as the default settings. So then I tried it from the top...and when I tried printing to a PS file, it worked this time! The PDF had color graphics and the settings were correct! I really appreciate your suggestion. I have always preferred printing to PS, and also I had read the recent post in another discussion on why you should never save to PDF, so I was not entirely confident with my previous "fix" for the problem. PS--I am using Acrobat 5, although I also have 4.0 at my work. Thank you!!!
