Assuming that your CurrentPage variable on each page is set up in the format <$ChapNum>-<PageNum>...

It sounds as if you haven't set the numbering properties for the component files of the book in the book file. This configures the type of string displayed by the <$chapnum> variable.

In the book file, highlight Ap A. Right click > Numbering > Chapter and set it to start at A and use Alpha style. Apply and Save the book.

Then, highlight all the other Aps. Right click > Numbering > Chapter and set it to increment and use Alpha style. Apply and Save the book.

Update the book.
