FM8 p277, WinXP, SP2 Acrobat 9 Pro Is there some magic incantation within Acrobat 9 to actually invoke a "real" facing pages view? In FM's facing pages view the document is correctly displayed, i.e. the first page is a right page. But a PDF from this file displays differently in Acro7 vs Acro9. In Acro 7, the "continuous facing" view displays the PDF as expected, with the first page being a right side page. But when the PDF is viewed within Acro 9 in "two-up" view, the first page is always a left-side page. I can't for the life of me see any way to tell it that the pages are facing. The Acro9 help file says: "Note: If a document has more than two pages, the Two-Up and Two-Up Continuous views display the first page alone on the right side of the document pane, to ensure proper display of two-page spreads." Can anybody else confirm this Acro9 issue?

OK, got it partially resolved. Acrobat (as of ver. 8) calls the "correct" facing pages view "showing a Cover Page", and places the setting under View > Page Display > Show Cover Page During Two-Up. <mutter> seems like a distinct "dumbing down" of an essential publishing concept. So now, next question: how to get FM to pass on the "Show Cover Page" setting to the PDF?

Another tidbit: keyboard shortcut toggle for changing the Show Cover page is Alt-v p v [hold alt down, type "v", let alt up, type "p" and then "v"] Doesn't solve the bigger question, though, which is how to set the PDF's Initial View from FM. Channeling Shlomo <buzzz, buzzz> is this a TimeSavers capability?

Yeah, I noticed this too Sheila, I agree with your "dumbing down" assessment...

With FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers, default PDF viewing settings can be controlled through the PDF Settings tab (these apply automatically to all PDFs being distilled, but exceptions can be specified). Adding the Print Dialog Presets is my "to do" list. Shlomo Perets <http://www.microtype.com/TimeSavers.html>
