MIF variable not always displayed

Hi all, I'm sure that this problem is simple but it seems that I can't find the solution. I have a variable which only contains some text that is displayed after a string element in a specific cell of a table :

<ParaLine <String `this is the title of the current table'>
  <Variable <VariableName `Table Continuation'>
    <Unique 2000002>
   > # end of Variable

      # end of ParaLine

The problem I am having is that the cell has a specific width and if the string element only take one line of the cell but does not let enough space at the end of the line to display the variable then the variable will not be displayed. In that case I would like to force the variable to be dysplayed on a second line in the Cell.

Hope that is clear.

thanks for any help.

Alex

Hi,

I noticed this bug in a previous version. Now, when I tested this with 8.0p277 it works. However, FrameMaker extends the vertical space for the table title frame on the 2nd page and also on the first page. This might mean that less table rows fit on the first page.

Best regards

Winfried

Hi Winfried,
Thanks for the quick answer.

So I guess its just a product limitation with our version of Framemaker which is 7.1 i think. As it is not a case that we get often we will solve it manually by just adding some extra spaces to force the creation of a second line so that the Table Continuation is displayed. And we'll get another version soon I hope.

As for the extended vertical space also on the first page its not really a problem, I guess its just to be sure to have exactly the same formating on all pages.

thanks again.
