I have a template created using FM 7. I have converted those templates into FM8 and then created a book. When I try to save the book as PDF, it gives the following error (in .txt format):

When I converted these FM8 files into FM7 and generated a book, I was able to save as PDF. I am able to save the individual FM8 files (using FM7 template) into PDF files.
Why am I not able to save the book as PDF, when I use FM7 template in FM8?

This problem was fixed in FM8.0p266. You are probably using the original release of FM8.0 (FM8.0p236).

Please update your version (Help > Updates), then try saving as PDF again.

In addition to Shlomo's advice, be sure to apply all of the individual updates that are shown on Adobe's update list -- Adobe does not do "roll up" updates for FrameMaker, so each update has to be applied in sequence.
