Hi everyone, Did Adobe ever implement a convenient way to xref a page range, as "..., see <topic> on pages a-b"? The idea would be to insert both a beginning and an ending xref marker around the xref source. I recall discussion about this years ago, but ??? Thank you kindly, Elchanan

I don't believe this has been implemented. It's certainly possible for you to do this though. Just create two different xref formats .. one that provides the format of .. see <$paratext> on pages <$pagenum>- and another that has the following format .. <$pagenum> Just insert the first one to the beginning of the range, and insert the second one pointing to the end of the range. Cheers, ...scott

Thanks Scott. Yes, I see that solution. I was hoping to be able to manage the 2 as a pair, much as one might wish to manage a L/R master page pair. (Not that the two are similar in any respect other than pairdom :):) Best regards, Elchanan

I'd be happy to make a plugin for you that does this. :) ...scott Scott Prentice Leximation, Inc. www.leximation.com

[Following applies to all versions of FrameMaker]
Other than inserting two separate cross-references, you can set up a cross-reference format that retrieves information from two different paragraphs (however, an active link points the last one). For example:
see <$paratext[Heading1]> on pages <$pagenum[Heading1]>-<$pagenum>
<$pagenum> in the above example will retrieve the page number at the end of section ("source", any paragraph tag, eg Body or Bullet); <$paratext[Heading1]> and <$pagenum[Heading1]> retrieve information from the first Heading1 paragraph preceding the source.
Notes:
-- You may refer to a number of different heading tags preceding the source:
see <$paratext[Heading1,Heading2]> on pages <$pagenum[Heading1,Heading2]>-<$pagenum>
(the closest of which preceding the source paragraph is retrieved)
-- A cross-ref marker is inserted at the *beginning* of the source paragraph (and the page number is retrieved accordingly). If the source paragraph is split between pages, the page number retrieved shows the starting page number. If you wish to show the page number at the end of the paragraph, insert a cross-reference marker at the end of the paragraph (marker text serving as an internal ID); when inserting the cross-reference, choose Source Type: Cross-Reference Markers, and select the marker.
This technique also makes it easier to identify the source paragraph(but other workarounds can help with paragraph-based references)
