I'm using FM7.0 on Unix and I am trying to convert a file to PDF. The file has a lot of figures, tables and cross-references. It also has conditional text. When I try the Save As pdf it chugs along then I get an error. This is what is in the error log.
CID support library initialization completed.

Can someone please help me?

If you were on Windows, I would tell you to print to a postscript file
and then Distill the PS file to PDF (instead of using Save As PDF).
Distiller should give you page numbers completed, so you would know what
page Distiller died on. Then I would encourage you to start taking apart
that page, removing graphics one by one from the page, and then removing
text, until you find the offending item.

Can you print to PS and Distill on Unix?

I can print to PS but I can't do Distiller. The odd thing is when I show all the conditional text, I can convert to pdf. I thought I would copy the file and start deleting and converting to see where the error might be happening.

I can. Zip it up and email it to me (kbenson at pegtype dot com) or post
it somewhere like sendthisfile.com and I'll try to figure out on what
page it's getting tripped up.

Check your PDF settings in FrameMaker and look if the
"Create named destinations for all paragraphs" in the Links tab is checked. Perhaps you need to select the Format>Document>Optimize PDF Size before creating the PDF.

BTW, the error message you cited is incomplete - the PostScript error message (something like "Error: undefined ..., offending command; xxx") would be helpful to know.

Helge

PS: if necessary, I could tell you how to call the normalizer offline if you need to edit the PS file before distilling.

I can not send you the file. My company will not let me release it.

As far as the error message goes - that is all that I have.

I will check the Links and also Optimize.
