Can´s update book in greek

Hi,

We have several projects in different languages created in Framemaker7. The aim is to generate .chm files out of Frammaker via Webworks.

We have problems with the greek version av our project. We have now changed the version of Framemaker to version 8 and converted our files in the greek book to Framemaker8.

Some of autogenerated texts in cross-references looks pretty strange after the conversion, and the main problem is that as soon we update the book then the index file will get corrupted with unknown characters.

I realize that the issue might causes by none unicode characters but why the index is corrupted after updating the book?!

I appreciate if anyone could help in this matter.

Regards

When you moved to FM 8, you adopted Unicode characters and fonts, which were not supported in FM7.
You need to convert anything that used a FM7 glyph to the corresponding Unicode character, including those used in the Index markers embedded in the book's component files.
I suspect the Index is corrupt because the markers from which it is generated contain non-unicode characters which now need to be remapped.

So you mean that the markers contains text that was not converted into unicode? Is this an error in FrameMaker8?

It is a limitation of the conversion process.
Under the right conditions, FM8 will automatically remap document text to unicode during the conversion. But the conversion does not remap marker text so you'll have to replace the index marker text yourself by hand.
