Page numbering in a book

Hello,

I have a book linking a few chapters; I'd like to have a subsequent page numbering in the chapters. For example: document1 has 7 pages and document2 has 4 pages: I'd like the pages of document1 to be numbered as 1 to 7, and document2 numbered as 8 to 11. This is to be performed in a dynamic way: if I add a page in document1, I'd like document2 to start from page 9 (to 12).

How can I do this?
Thanks for helping me :)

Bye

This is not how FM works. Numbering in a book is changed when
you update the book manually, not in any dynamic way.
So you need to set up the files' Numbering properties in the
book correctly, and then click the Update button in the book
file window.

I have a book with 14 files. I want the last 11 of those files to be numbered continuously. I set the chapter numbering for the 10 follow-on files to "Continue Numbering From Previous File in Book", and the Page numbering to "Continue Numbering from Previous Page in Book." I saved the book and updated the book.

However, when I update the book, the pages are still numbered as if they are in separate chapters. Is there a bug that I don't know about, or is there something that I forgot to do? Any tips would be appreciated. I'm using Frame 8 in standard mode, not structured mode.

Thanks,

Beth

Beth,
Are you making the settings in the book file? (You should be; you can ignore the individual files' settings.) And you are both Saving and Updating after making the changes?

Also, what building blocks are in the Current Page Number variable that you're embedding on each component file's Master Page(s)?
