I can't get the tab stops and dot leader to update in an autogenerated Table of Contents document. It shows up in Paragraph designer and the Reference page but not in the autogenerated Body page (page numbers and everything else does show up).

Spec looks like this (borrowed from a book format template)

openObjectId <$relfilename>:<$ObjectType> <$ObjectId>
<$paratext> <$pagenum>
<$paratext> <$pagenum>
<$paratext> <$pagenum>

Assuming you have inserted a tab stop between each <$paratext> <$pagenum> combo on the TOC Reference page and saved...

You need to go to the Body page of the TOC and check each paragraph format (each one with a TOC suffix) to ensure that the tab stop is set up at the correct location and with the correct leadering.

After you modify the tags, save the file again.

Then update the book to regenerate the TOC.

Make sure you tab in the Reference page so the leaders show.

I was able to get the tabs and leaders to show up if I generated a stadalone TOC for just a single document in the book. But when I tried it for the whole book, the tabs never appear. It is almost like it is ignoring the TOC Reference page in the book TOC document.

So what I decided to try was to take a document that seemed to generate a good table of contents with tabs and then save that that as the book TOC document. I then updated the book TOC and I got the tabs and leaders to appear.

All I can figure is that I created a nasty TOC document the first time I auto-generated it, and this was causing me grief. Getting rid of that solved the problem.

Thanks for the help. Sometimes we just have to struggle through these problems :)
