All, I am working on XP Pro (SP3) with FM8p273. I have several books that I am working on that use the same template as a base. In one of these books, the page numbering does not work correctly. The book is made up of 13 separate FrameMaker documents. I have the books set up so that the page numbering will start at page 1 of the first document, and continue in sequence to the last page of the last document. I have the numbering for each document set to continue the numbering from the previous document in the book. The eighth document is an Index that has four pages. When I open the document, I see pages 81, 82, 83, and 84. However, when looking at the book view, if I click on Index file, in the lower left corner of the screen it shows pages 81-82. It is ignoring pages 83-84. When I print the book to PDF, I get all four pages, numbered 81, 82, 83, and 84. However, the page after 84 (from the next document) is numbered 83. From this page, the numbering picks up from 83 and continues in sequence to the last page without missing any more pages. What I am ending up with is a 106 page PDF, where the last page of the PDF is page 104. Inside the PDF I have two pages that are numbered 83, and two pages that are numbered 84. I have tried setting up the numbering inside the documents and from the book view. I get the same results either way. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks, Brian

You could try cleaning up the Index file by saving it as a MIF file, opening that file, and saving over the FM file.... But I think the easiest way to clean it up would be to delete the file from the book (not on disk) and save the book. Then change the name of the file on disk. Back in the book file, Add a new Index file, save, and update. Then in the book file, adjust the page numbering of the new Index. Save and update again. If you need to, you can import the formats from the old Index file into the new, but I wouldn't grab the document properties.

All, Sorry, but I should have tried this before posting (I'm blaming it on Monday morning brain lock). I hit the Update Book button and the problem corrected itself. In the past, when hitting the Set button after changing the document/book numbering, it updates itself. Oh well.. Thanks anyway. Brian
