I'm using FM8. I would like to be able to have outline numbering like in Word:
1 or A)
1.1 or a)
etc.
I pretty much have single outline figured out, but not multi-level.
Also I don't know how to make it NOT pick up where it left off for a new outline. I need to be able to make it start over and I don't know how. Please help.
Belynda

Try selecting File > New Document and pick the Outlines folder from your Template directory. Select Harvard... and either use it as is because it's correct, or modify each tag's numbering properties to emulate the Word style. Note than each level in the outline has a beginning tag that restarts the outline level when you begin a new outline and a Continue tag that you use within an outline.

Art, Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try. Could you also please tell me how to get outlines to start over instead of picking up where they left off? Belynda

Belynda, Assuming you're using one of the working outline templates... As I mentioned, "Note than each level in the outline has a beginning tag that restarts the outline level when you begin a new outline and a Continue tag that you use within an outline." So you'd use the 1Level, 2Level, 3Level, or 4Level tags to start numbering from I,A,1, or a in a new outline. Use the series of Continued tags to continue numbering within an outline. Art
