I am new to dynamic content and i need some help with what is probably a simple problem!

I have a html page and i want to be able to edit a text box to change special offer information each month? How can i link a text box to a txt file so that when the txt file is changed it updates the text box on the web page?

Any help or ideas of a better way to do this would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Tom

You can't do it with a Txt file, you must use one of the supported database services, MySQL and PHP, Access and ASP, or JSP and some other SQL database (such as Oracle).

Look at <http://www.golivein24.com/>

for several video tutorials on Dynamic Content. You may also need to learn a little MySQL, I suggest downloading (you may have it on your hosting provider already) <http://www.phpmyadmin.net>

this product will allow you to create your database and db tables and get you started, if your doing it via PHP and MySQL.

In GL6 with DC, your datasource can be a XML file. Although no plain text file it is a file, no need for a database for all cases.

Although you can read from an XML file, I don't think DC will let you update or write to XML files. (Or does it?)

That's right.

GoLive DC doesn't directly support update of XML data sources

Oh, sorry, didn't knew that. Why not?

Probably a decision from marketing (no one would use it).
