I know this has been hashed over and over again. However most of the people who actually find a solution aren't using PHP.

I am setting up a dynamic site for a newspaper. I want to have the user click on the headline or the "more" link and open the story up in a pop up window. Everyone has already found out that when you use the show current details it only shows the first record in the table.

I have the same content sources on both pages and I tried using a pageParameter similar to that in Jerry's tutorial. When you mouse over the link with the page parameter it shows the url with the right ID but when pop up window is opened the URL has the first ID from the table in it. By now there has got to be a solution by now. Is there anyone that has done this easy.

Any help would be appreciated. I have searched hours on this and other forums for the answer but to no avail.

Ok folks. I am still new to this coding thing. When I get java script I am afraid to use it because I don't know where to put it. However I know that nothing that is attempted is going to be so devistating if its wrong that I won't be able to fix it.

So I found this code. I created a new javascript object in the head. Into which I put the following.

// function Start(page) {
// OpenWin = this.open(page, "CtrlWindow", "toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=470,height=400");
// }

I then hilighted the link (image or text) and used the fetch URL tool in the inspector to point to my pop up page. I then re-hilighted the link and went to split source view. The image or text link is hilighted in the source. After the a href= I put this:
// javascript:Start('URL')

in place of the URL I copied and pasted the original link. (btw I used the pageParameter technique used by Jerry in his "List/Details/Edit tutorial)
The url would look similar to this:

// ftc_pop_up.php?showme=<?php echo $ftc_list->Value("ftc_id") ?>

so the total link looks like this.

// <?php echo $ftc_list->Value("ftc_id") ?>')>

I surely hope this helps someone. But hey I might be the last person who need to know this and everyone else knew it already. But if there is someone out there that needs to know how to do this then here it is.

PS In your pop up window doc make sure you have the same content sources from your original page. The easiest way to assure this is by either copy and pasting the content sources or simply dragging from one head section to the other. <javascript:Start(ftc_pop_up.php?showme=>

I thought I commented out the text with the link but it didn't work.

Let me try again.

// a href=javascript:Start('ftc_pop_up.php?showme=<?php echo $ftc_list->Value("ftc_id") ?>')

Jeremy,

I've fixed the code in your posting for you.

When you wish to post code, either put a space after each opening '<' tag or replace all <'s with <
