GL should allow the user to decide if he/she wants to confirm overwrites when using drag and drop upload in FTP. Personally, I hate the upload buttons. I want to know that I'm in control of *exactly* which files are being uploaded. I should be able to configure this in preferences. I just recently upgraded tp GL CS2 from GL6 and all the previous versions of GL I've used (from v.3 - 6) never required overwrite confirmation. I'm used to dragging and dropping and immediately getting on to other tasks without having to stop and tell GL "Yes, I really meant to do that." I love GL CS2, but this one thing is almost enough to make me want to go back to v.6.

You have full control of what is being uploaded via the upload modified buttons and the other ones. GoLive can show you a list of what is to be uploaded before you confirm the uploading to the server so you can always check that it is the right files. There are a few situations where manual uploading by drag and drop is neccessary but those are few and rare. At that stage it is a good thing to get the warning I think.

I *hate* the upload buttons -- I won't use them. That's my point. I should have control over GL, not vice versa. Older versions of GL didn't do this. I've been using GL since '98, and while I love CS2, I dislike this part. BTW, my boss feels the same way, so I'm not alone.

Chris - WHY do you hate th euploading buttons? Tell us what is wrong with them, not just that you hate them. Hating the buttons is not really a reason... ;) Refusing to use them because you hate them is not all that clever. Learn to take advantage of what they can do instead.

Ok, fair enough. Here's why: 1) I don't want to have to go page by page in the upload dialog and tell GL what I do and don't want to upload -- I don't have time to manage this and I also don't want to have to reset it every time I upload. By dragging and dropping I know exactly what I'm uploading and its faster. 2) When I click the check box on the upload dialog to view directory structure, GL goes into "spinning beach ball mode" and never recovers -- I have to force quit and start over. So, right now, its unusable anyway. While I understand what you were trying to achieve with the upload buttons, I find the method inefficient. Again, why dictate to the user how to work? If I want to turn off a warning, I should be able to.

1) Believe me - the upload buttons are much faster than doing this manually. And you don't have to keep track of what to upload either. GL does it for you. You really should give it a chance. It is very efficient. 2) If it does that, then something seems to bue not quite right with your site. I can agree though that turning off the warning with a simple tickbox to Don't show again first time you see it would be a good thing.
