I'm trying to get my rollover menu pop up div with z depth set higher than the div holding the Flash to show over the Flash slide show. I did a search and found the wmode=transparent and inserted as below and still does not work. any ideas what I'm not setting correctly?

Mr. Summers, you are a code genius. I can believe I over looked this possibility. It's a good day I've learned something new. Thank you very much!

You are welcome! Layers are a very poor choice for layout purposes. -- Murray

Your problem is related to your nesting of positioned elements. The submenus (with z-index of 10) are contained within an ancestor with z-index of zero (never use zero or negative z-indices). Thus, the descendent submenus' z-index of 10 is only in the context of a z-index of zero (meaning that they will appear higher than another element with z-index of ... say ... 4 within that same ancestor). In other words, by nesting them this way, you have forced the page to treat them as if they all had a z-index of zero. Since the Flash container has a z-index of 1, well, you get the picture. Try making NavBG have a z-index of 5 and see what happens. -- Murray

I'd recommend first forgetting that absolute positioning even exists so that you aren't tempted to use it again! To tell you the truth, I have probably only used it once on the last 10 sites I have built. At best it's a specialty purpose tool, not a general use tool. But - to move beyond "the layer age" to "best practice", you will have to study some HTML and CSS. That may take a while for you. In the meantime, you might consider using tables - they work, and while not best practice, they certainly won't get you into the same mess that absolute positioning does. To replace absolute positioning as a primary layout methodology, you will have to familiarize yourself with - 1. The normal flow of the page 2. CSS floats, and how to clear them 3. Use of margins and padding to precisely locate content on your page Those are the three workhorse concepts you need to replace 'layers'. Read this to begin with - then use Google to flesh out the details of the first two bullets above - http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php -- Murray
