Hi
I have a customer supplied InDesign file with placed Illustrator graphics. They want the graphics to be Hot Stamp foil printed. For clarity in overseas production we would like them to indicate in their InDesign file the correct separations of CMYK and a separate film for the hot stamp foil.

I use Illustrator not InDesign so I don't know how to direct them on this. They want to know HOW to make separations in InDesign for spot colours. I was able to figure that out for InDesign elements but placed Illustrator files in InDesign I am at a loss.

The Illustrator file is a PMS colour 872c but when dragged or placed in the InDesign file it converts to CMYK? I tried this with .eps and pdf....all turned to CMYK.

Does anyone know how to preserve the spot colours with a placed Illustrator file in InDesign??

I am so frustrated I literally pulled some hair out....time to ease up on the coffee hahaah

Thank you

Sarah
